Membership in the Hawai`i Hotel & Lodging Association has definite far reaching effects on hotels, as it includes automatic membership in the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) for hotel members. The AH&LA is a federation of state and city lodging associations throughout the United States with more than 10,000 members representing more than 1.4 million rooms; AH&LA provides operations, technical, educational, marketing, and communications services plus governmental affairs representation to the lodging industry nationwide.
